PSO, Indian firm to develop port

Taheri explained that four docks will be constructed to develop Chabahar’s Shahid Beheshti Port, adding that based on the agreement made between the Indian company and PSO, the company will launch construction of two docks with a capacity of 150,000 tons for mooring large ships in this port within the next two months. 

He further explained that the two other docks would be constructed by domestic companies, although amount of credits required for constructing these docks is yet to be determined since the project design is incomplete.

Construction of four docks would increase forex revenues, besides paving ground for mooring large ships, the deputy said, adding that 17 m cu.m. dredge has been predicted to develop the port.

In conclusion, Taheri announced that construction of two of multipurpose docks in Shahid Beheshti Port has been completed and this will pave the ground for mooring 80,000-ton ships. He noted that building five other ports is among the next plans of the IPSO.
